Cardinals for Me

I have just found a photo of a sampler done by a cardinal lover who has changed the birds on her piece. I like how it looks, and have pretty much decided to do the same. Maybe I'll get back to this project now.

Do you like the cardinals?

  1. The cardinal was pretty. I wavered for a second about changing mine. But on the larger view, all I could see was RED! I just don't think I want to knock the balance off like that.

  2. We've got many in our group who like the cardinals and are seriously considering them...even some who might be unstitching some blue birds. Can't wait to see cardinals on samplers in person.

  3. How is everyone doing? I haven't had a chance to put one stitch in on the third part.

  4. Hi, Robin -

I heard you had a big weekend last week. Congrats. I haven't taken a stitch on the mystery sampler in a month! Got side tracked on Loose Feathers. (see Rose's LF at: http://obbdg.blogspot.com it's awesome. I'm about half way thru mine.

I think you'll be seeing some cardinals before you know it!

    Keep cool.

  5. Thanks Bobbi. I had lots of fun teaching at the guild.
Well I did get a few stitches in last night--I thought I deserved a break--11,000 words and counting on the dissertation.....and to think I am only 1/4 way done with it!
Hope everyone has a good week.

  6. Well I got the hill with the flowers in and the other tree and bird. I would have had more done, but after stitching half the hill I realized I did not like the color of the skein it called for and switched to another skein that was a darker green in the same dye lot. That's what happens when you do it late at night...and take a break from writing.

  7. Robin- I just wrote a long response to your post, and it disappeared. Shortened up...I think you will be happy with a darker color for the hill. I saw one online where the stitcher actually changed to dried thyme, and I liked that.

Also, rose was telling me...I think this is what she meant...that she tore out part of the hill and put the tree trunks in the fore ground, since they are the large items. I think that's what she meant.

    Keep up your good work!

  8. I wish I would have realized sooner that the hill wasn't showing up. LOL I also noticed there is a missing stem for one of the flowers on the graph.

  9. TREE TRUNK DONE, AND BLUE HEAD ON BIRD DONE SO FAR, GOOD IDEA FOR DARKER GREEN HILL. IT WON'T LOOK SO MUCH LIKE THE LEAVES.

  11. Robin - completely...as in totally, all three parts, no more stitches to make?!!
We should have placed odds of win, place, and show on everyone hen we started this SAL. I really wouldn't have picked you for one of the top three because of all your commitments.....

not that this is a competition... ;-)

    Congrats.

I really have to get back into the mix. Can't complain about the weather...it's perfect stitching weather!

  12. Yes, all of it is done. I had to prove to everyone I really do know how to stitch. LOL
I am debating whether to change the cross stitches to colonial knots on the sheep, but don't think I will have time.
Seeing Taylor Swift this weekend. I also have one ticket on the floor if someone is interested.

Now I am on to my pre-stitching for the Patrick Woods "hare" piece. What are the odds I will get it done?
